Expanding the Alliance: Universidad de Zaragoza and Cambra de Comerç de Girona Back the FabCat Manifest 2.0
We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone for the FabCat Manifest 2.0. Our alliance for European industrial sovereignty continues to grow with the official endorsement and strategic backing of two pivotal institutions.
Today, we proudly welcome:
Universidad de Zaragoza (UNIZAR): The university’s governing body has officially backed the Manifest 2.0 and formally agreed to join the #ERSFabs (European Resilience and Skill Fabs) network. Their integration brings world-class academic excellence and robust research capabilities to the project.
Cambra de Comerç de Girona (Chamber of Commerce of Girona): A leading economic voice in the territory, reinforcing the critical link between industrial needs, logistical realities, and technological development.
A Powerful Dual Endorsement
This combined endorsement from top-tier academic and economic sectors sends a resolute message: the urgent need for a resilient, sovereign European semiconductor supply chain is a shared priority. It demonstrates that the #ERSFabs model is not merely a theoretical concept, but a pragmatic industrial roadmap supported by the real economy and the academic community alike.
Consolidating the East-West Technological Axis
By joining forces with the Universidad de Zaragoza, we are actively consolidating the strategic East-West axis (Zaragoza – Girona – Mediterranean).
This move decisively proves that the FabCat initiative extends far beyond local ambitions. We are building a cohesive, collaborative technological corridor. This cross-border ecosystem possesses the strategic depth and scale necessary to compete on a global stage and secure the technological sovereignty of the European Union.
The Clock is Ticking: 2026 Deadlines
With the clock ticking towards the 2026 funding deadlines of the European Chips Act, this united the front of academia, industry, and territorial leadership is stronger than ever. The transition from pure R&D to resilient, massive production capabilities requires immediate and concerted action.
True European resilience will only be achieved through deep, cross-regional collaboration. We extend our deepest gratitude to our new partners for their vision and unwavering commitment to Europe's industrial future.
The time for informed decisions has passed; the time for territorial execution is now.
